Galleries

Singapore has many galleries and the scene always changes. So the list here is not meant to be exhaustive but included are galleries which show local artists and which you can patronise.

Raffles City/Bras Basah Art Districts

1. Cape of Good Hope Gallery - This gallery is run by Mr Terence Teo and Monica. Deals mainly with 2nd generation Singapore artists. Mr Terence Teo being an artist himself has a good understanding of what the artist needs to do to improve oneself and also knows what the gallery has to do for both collectors and artists.

Gillman Barracks

1.Fost Gallery - by Stephanie Fong. She's a nice lady who knows what she wants. She has a good eye for art too. Lots of great exhibitions by Singaporean artists.
2. Mizuma Gallery - Mr Mizuma san has a good eye. Dealing mainly with Indonesia and Japanese artists, but occasionally featuring local artists. It's located at the top of the hill in Gillman Barracks.
3. Chan + Hori Contemporary - Just opened March 2017 after Ben Hampe left and Khai Hori joined in.  Doing good stuff for the artists with Khai Hori's curatorial experience.
4. Yeo Workshop. Run by Audrey Yeo, a very knowledgeable person. Has good programmes for the artists and good shows with them.
5.Ota Fine Arts- They have a good curatorial eye and show good works. Also features local artists in their lineup of exhibitions.
6.Yavuz Gallery - Run by Can Yavuz. Features local artists in their lineup too. Interesting and more daring works shown here.
7.Pearl Lam Galleries - Willing to take on and show young local artists in spite of being a more established gallery. (currently on Hiatus)
8.Richard Koh Fine Art - Richard Koh has moved back to Singapore again in 2019. Taking over the space where Tomio Koyama used to be. He knows a lot and has a good eye. So expect interesting things.
9.Sullivan+Strumpf - The Australian gallery is in Singapore now. And interestingly, they have signed on a few Sg artists.

Tanglin Shopping Centre Area

1. Ipreciation - Led by gallerist Helina Chan. Does a lot of Chinese artists. But recently they have been showing more Singaporean artists.

2. Gajah Gallery - This gallery is over at Tanjong Pagar Distripak. Forced to vacate their Mica space for this. Shows local artists too.
